A Darker Bloom, released on Cherry Red records, is probably the definitive Blue Orchids collection. It features tracks from their early singles, their only proper album and a fine selection of later songs. The band did reform, without Una Baines, to release further records, but these are not of quite the same standard. Those later releases can be found elsewhere, but this Cherry Red compilation has 99% of the essential Blue Orchids tracks that no household should be without.
Furia is the only album released by The Fates. The track featured on this week's show is atypical of the record as a whole, where most tracks run to about 7 or 8 minutes and have a paganistic and folkie feel to them. For something a little mystic and different from the norm this is highly recommended. Probably hard to track down, but search the net among all the usual suspects and you may find it out there somewhere.
Inchpinchers by The Wailing Souls was one of the first reggae albums I ever bought and it still sounds as good today as it did when released in 1983.
